Now You Can Work From Home And Protect Your Data

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while but I had to buy an entirely new computer do to a major spyware and virus infestation. What I learned during this ordeal is that I am not a corporate IT guru. If something goes wrong with my computer or it gets infected I am not able to get it fixed.

While working from home is great you need to be careful of your computer and data. In the corporate world you have the technical expertise available to take care or all virus, spyware and adware problems. I can tell you from first hand experience that while working from home it is an entirely different situation. Here’s what happened…

About a 4-5 weeks ago I started seeing pop-ups more frequently. I didn’t think anything of it really as I’ve seen pop-ups before while working from home so I went on with filling out my surveys for money. Well it started getting to the point where I found myself closing them every two minuets and I was also getting very annoyed another week or so went by.

It was at this point that I started searching for a pop-up blocker. Now I wasn’t really sure on what I was looking for but I knew I wanted to stop the crazy pop-ups. I downloaded a tool bar program that promised to stop all pop-ups for free. I thought this would be good as I only had to look at the tool bar in my web browser and not the pop-ups all the time. Little did I know this was the beginning of the end for my poor computer.

Things got progressively worse from here on out. The next set of events that took place was that my computer was becoming real slow and unresponsive. It got the the point where I couldn’t do any work from home and this meant no extra money coming in. After talking to some people I found out that these so called tool bar pop-up blockers are nothing more then a wolf in sheeps clothing. I guess these tool bars are some of the worst things you can install on your computer. The ironic part is that I actually found the tool bar useful for searches and to tell the weather and things like that. The entire time it was stealing my information and slowing down my computer.

The final straw for me was when my bookmarks and homepage would change on me all the time. I would make my homepage MSN and the next time I went to visit it I would be sent to a website selling icons, smiley faces, ring tones and even sites of a more private nature if you know what I mean.

Come to find out all the issues I was having with my computer was related to spyware programs. I didn’t know it at the time but after talking with the IT manager at the office I was a little more educated as to what was happening.

He recommend that I re-install my operating system, he called it “nuking” the computer? Now I have no idea what all that is about but since my technical experience runs out at this blog I choose to buy a new computer instead. It was time for an upgrade and this seemed like as good reason to.

I asked him what I could do to prevent this from happening in the future and he said get a good anti-spyware program. He told me that once I get the new computer the first place I should go to is XoftSPY SE and download their spyware scanner. This way I would be protected from this happening again.

It has been about two weeks now of working from home with no pop-ups, tool bars, random web pages and my computer is faster then ever. If you are having any of the same problems as I had I would recommend checking out a good XoftSpy SE Scan to get your computer clean before it is too late.
