Many single work from home moms simply do not have enough money. They work as hard as they can in their jobs, but it is just not enough to pay the bills. If you are in this situation, then you already know that getting a second job is simply not an option. Your kids only have one parent in the picture, and they need you to be around. One option to help you make ends meet is to find a way to make money from your home.

Finding a way to earn money at home requires some creativity. You will need to find something that you can do while still giving your children the attention they need. One option is to offer your home as a place where your friends can bring their children for babysitting. Even if it is just a couple of nights a week or on the weekends, you can make some decent money watching other people’s kids. Since you will be babysitting, interacting with the kids is required, and this means you will have time to spend with your own kids as well.

As long as there are no allergies in your home, pet sitting can be another way for you to bring in some extra money. When your friends take a vacation, they can bring their pets to your home to be cared for. Or, better yet, you can go to their home and care for their pets while they are gone.

Can you write? Many people find that working as a freelance writer is a good way to earn some side cash. While many part time freelance jobs don’t pay a ton, they can help you make ends meet when you don’t have enough to pay your bills. Writing is not the only type of freelance work available, either. If you can design a website, you can earn money as a freelance web designer. Graphic artists can also earn money on the side creating images for others. Photography and videography are also in high demand online.

As you look for something you can do from home, avoid any programs that claim that you can earn thousands of dollars for just a few hours of work each month. Working from home, especially part time, is going to require some extra effort and motivation, and it is not going to bring in the big bucks in most situations. It can, however, give you the money you need to pay that one last bill that you just can’t squeeze out of your paycheck.

Tax time is usually not much fun for the work from home mom. After all, many people who work from home actually run their own businesses, which means that they owe quite a bit when the tax season rolls around. One way to reduce the amount you owe to make sure that you take advantage of all of the tax deductions you are entitled to receive.

First, consider whether or not you ever drive for business reasons. You probably think initially that you don’t, but what about the trips to the office supply store? You can deduct your mileage when you drive for business reasons. However, you need to have some form of written documentation showing your mileage. If you have this, then you can deduct your mileage, which will be 50.5 cents per mile in 2008.

Do you subscribe to any professional publications that are a part of your business’s field? If so, make sure you deduct this subscription amount. Also, any other supplies that you purchase for your business, such as ink and printer paper, can be deducted, provided they are ordinary and necessary for your business. Just keep your receipts and write the purpose of the item you purchased.

The same is true for charitable contributions. If you give money to a charitable organization, keep the receipt or letter you receive from that group as proof of your donation. You can also take a deduction for non-monetary charitable contributions, but you need to have proof, such as a receipt or photograph of the items you contributed.

Are you thinking of having a garage sale? Instead, consider donating those items to the Salvation Army or some other charitable group that provides a receipt. You can then deduct their value from your taxes, lowering what you owe. Just make sure you write down all that you donate, because you will need this written proof if you are ever audited.

Finally, make sure you are contributing to your retirement plan. By maximizing your contributions, you can lower what you owe in taxes even more. Be sure to check with your financial adviser to learn what the new maximums are, because contribution maximums increase every year. Also, remember that you can take deductions for contributions added up until April 15 of the next year, so you can add more to your retirement plan if you find that you need a way to lower your tax bill quickly. Even as a self-employed individual, you are still able to claim these deductions, so start planning for your future as you lower your current tax bill!

Many moms dream of being able to work from home. Working moms dream of being around their kids more often, instead of leaving them with a sitter for most of the day. Moms who already stay home with their kids dream of finding a way to contribute to the family’s finances. Working from home seems to fit both of these dreams. However, working from home is not easy, and you will not succeed unless you find a business that fits the number one rule for working from home. The key to working from home successfully is doing something you love!

What is it that you really enjoy doing? Think past all of your responsibilities as a parent and a wife. Don’t think of the fact that you enjoy playing with your kids or cleaning your house. Think back to a time before you had kids. What did you really enjoy? What really made you happy? Brainstorm for a while, and you will soon find that there is something out there that once made you happy as an individual, not as a spouse or a parent.

This industry or niche is where you want to be working when you work from home. You are going to be easily distracted with a home business. Your kids are going to demand your attention, as will the pile of laundry in your laundry room. Unless you love what you do for work, you will not succeed, because these distractions will pull you away from your work.

Just about any hobby or interest can be turned into an income stream with a little creativity. Do you love to cook? Why not sell homemade goodies or recipe books? Do you love to do crafts? You can sell handmade crafts online and at craft shows. Some craft hobbies, like scrap booking and candle making, even have home based businesses available that allow you to teach others how to do your craft.

Why is it so important to find something you love to do? Working a home based business is hard, and there will be times when the income is less than what you want. You may even have times when you are spending more than you make. Unless you truly enjoy and love what you do, you will not stick with it, and you will not succeed if you do not stick with your business through the hard times. Take your time as you search, and find something that is in the industry that you truly love!

I have received many emails asking me about Internet Marketing and how Multi-Level Marketing works. It is kind of a touchy subject with some but the truth is that if you know what you are doing it can be a very good business model to get into. I personally don’t do any MLM but I know many people who are very successful at it. Below I explain to the best of my knowledge how it work, enjoy…

If you are in the process of looking for work from home, chances are great that you have come across the acronym MLM. MLM stands for “Multi-Level Marketing.” This is a structure that some work-from-home businesses take, and understanding how it works is essential if you are going to determine whether or not this is the right business structure for you.

A multi-level marketing business is one wherein you have a product or service that you offer to potential customers. In addition, you are also encouraged to recruit new members to the business. You make money off of both sales of your product or service as well as those new members that you bring into the business.

While the product or service is there, most multi-level marketing businesses focus mainly on adding people to the business. Why is this? Because you make more money on those people that you bring into the business than you would on sales alone.

Here is how it works. When you come into the business, the person who recruited you is called your “up line.” Your up line gets a percentage of every sale that you make, whether a business or a product sale. This percentage could be large or small, but the more sales you make, the more money your up line makes. In return for this, your up line is supposed to train you and provide support for your new business.

When you recruit someone new to be in the business, you become that individual’s up line. They are referred to as your “down line.” Every sale that that individual makes brings a percentage your way in return for training and support. So, you have the potential to make earnings each and every month off of the person that you recruited into the business, just as your up line does from you. A sale of a product or service only provides a one-time income boost. For this reason, bringing new people into the business provides the most profit.

If you are considering joining an MLM, keep in mind that the constant marketing is difficult. Make sure you choose a company that you really believe in and can promote without qualm. Also, choose a company with a product or service that has a competitive price and true value. There needs to be a demand in the market for your product or service if you are going to succeed in this type of business. Finally, keep in mind that it takes time to grow a successful business, especially if you are working with an MLM. Devote the time and energy to a business that you believe in, and you could soon have a successful work-from-home business.

I wrote this post with both single and married mothers in mind. Work at home moms face an interesting dilemma. Many work at home parents choose to work from home so that they can avoid putting their children in daycare. Many moms turn to work from home opportunities when their children are born because they want to be the ones raising their children. However, working from home with babies and preschoolers running around is not easy. Here are some tips to use to help you balance parenting and working.

First, have a place that is reserved for work. Even if it is a small corner of your home, have a “home office.” If they are old enough to understand, teach your children that you are “off limits” when you are in the office. If your children are babies, teach your husband that you are not available to deal with the baby when you are in the office.

Next, learn to work when your children are sleeping. Work hard to keep your children napping in the afternoon, even if it requires you to put them to bed later in the evening. That afternoon naptime is the perfect time to get some work done in a quiet environment. You can also work when your children are asleep in the evening, but be sure that you save time to spend with your spouse, as he will begin to resent your business if you do not have time to spend with him.

If you have friends with children of the same age as yours, consider swapping babysitting times. You can offer to take your friend’s children for a day in return for a child free day of your own. Then, when it is your day to send your kids to their friends’ house, use that time to get some serious work done.

If you have no babysitting options, do not be afraid to let your children watch some television. You will hear that children never need to watch television, but the fact remains that you have to work. Have a scheduled time during the day when the children can watch a movie while you work. Just make sure that they do not spend the whole day watching the tube.

Balancing work and parenting duties is difficult for the work from home mom. With a little creativity and a lot of patience, you can make the work from home world work. Just remember to take it a day at a time, learn from your mistakes, and be flexible!

The invention of the Internet has brought about many changes in the way that we conduct our lives and our personal business. We can pay our bills online, shop online, bank online, and even date online!

We can buy and sell stocks online. Traders love having the ability to look at their accounts whenever they want to, and brokers like having the ability to take orders over the Internet, as opposed to the telephone.

Most brokers and brokerage houses now offer online trading to their clients. Another great thing about trading online is that fees and commissions are often lower. While online trading is great, there are some drawbacks.

If you are new to investing, having the ability to actually speak with a broker can be quite beneficial. If you aren’t stock market savvy, online trading may be a dangerous thing for you. If this is the case, make sure that you learn as much as you can about trading stocks before you start trading online.

You should also be aware that you don’t have a computer with Internet access attached to you. You won’t always have the ability to get online to make a trade. You need to be sure that you can call and speak with a broker if this is the case, using the online broker. This is true whether you are an advanced trader or a beginner.

It is also a good idea to go with an online brokerage company that has been around for a while. You won’t find one that has been in business for fifty years of course, but you can find a company that has been in business that long and now offers online trading.

Again, online trading is a beautiful thing – but it isn’t for everyone. Think carefully before you decide to do your trading online, and make sure that you really know what you are doing!

If you are like me and work from home then you probably find it difficult to stay organized as well. With all the distractions and family interference all day it is a wonder we get any work done at all.

Well to help keep you organized try these great tips which help me to stay organized and focused.

One quick way to start organizing is to buy some organization items. Go down to your local office supply store and buy some folders, notepads and some folder organizers. Now put everything in to folders according to projects or task and file them in your folder organizer. Use your notepad for quick to do lists, tasks, reminders and scheduled events.

Another great thing to do if you work from home is to take care of any task or to do that comes up. Try and get it our of the way as soon as possible. This way they don’t pile up over time and you find yourself one day just overload with little things to do. This can be very frustrating because we all want to be productive and little, un-important tasks just seem to get in the way.

The last bit of advice I can give is use your Microsoft Outlook program to it’s fullest. If you are running the 2007 version it is great for keeping track of your calendar, tasks, contacts, emails, notes, folders and shortcuts. Outlook is a great tool and if you start using it everyday to it’s fullest potential then it will become second nature and you will find yourself not being able to work from home without it.

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while but I had to buy an entirely new computer do to a major spyware and virus infestation. What I learned during this ordeal is that I am not a corporate IT guru. If something goes wrong with my computer or it gets infected I am not able to get it fixed.

While working from home is great you need to be careful of your computer and data. In the corporate world you have the technical expertise available to take care or all virus, spyware and adware problems. I can tell you from first hand experience that while working from home it is an entirely different situation. Here’s what happened…

About a 4-5 weeks ago I started seeing pop-ups more frequently. I didn’t think anything of it really as I’ve seen pop-ups before while working from home so I went on with filling out my surveys for money. Well it started getting to the point where I found myself closing them every two minuets and I was also getting very annoyed another week or so went by.

It was at this point that I started searching for a pop-up blocker. Now I wasn’t really sure on what I was looking for but I knew I wanted to stop the crazy pop-ups. I downloaded a tool bar program that promised to stop all pop-ups for free. I thought this would be good as I only had to look at the tool bar in my web browser and not the pop-ups all the time. Little did I know this was the beginning of the end for my poor computer.

Things got progressively worse from here on out. The next set of events that took place was that my computer was becoming real slow and unresponsive. It got the the point where I couldn’t do any work from home and this meant no extra money coming in. After talking to some people I found out that these so called tool bar pop-up blockers are nothing more then a wolf in sheeps clothing. I guess these tool bars are some of the worst things you can install on your computer. The ironic part is that I actually found the tool bar useful for searches and to tell the weather and things like that. The entire time it was stealing my information and slowing down my computer.

The final straw for me was when my bookmarks and homepage would change on me all the time. I would make my homepage MSN and the next time I went to visit it I would be sent to a website selling icons, smiley faces, ring tones and even sites of a more private nature if you know what I mean.

Come to find out all the issues I was having with my computer was related to spyware programs. I didn’t know it at the time but after talking with the IT manager at the office I was a little more educated as to what was happening.

He recommend that I re-install my operating system, he called it “nuking” the computer? Now I have no idea what all that is about but since my technical experience runs out at this blog I choose to buy a new computer instead. It was time for an upgrade and this seemed like as good reason to.

I asked him what I could do to prevent this from happening in the future and he said get a good anti-spyware program. He told me that once I get the new computer the first place I should go to is XoftSPY SE and download their spyware scanner. This way I would be protected from this happening again.

It has been about two weeks now of working from home with no pop-ups, tool bars, random web pages and my computer is faster then ever. If you are having any of the same problems as I had I would recommend checking out a good XoftSpy SE Scan to get your computer clean before it is too late.

Over the weekend I was doing some stuff around that house. While I was doing spring cleanup I came up with these quick money making ideas for things you might have around the house.

If you like baking you could bake some cookies and cup cakes and take them to your local coffee house. Give them away to the owner and/or manager and ask them if it would be possible to sell baked goods at their location.

Grow plants and sell them to nurseries or to neighbors.

Go through your garage or attic and find stuff to sell on Ebay.

Drag out your digital camera and practice taking photos of nature. Once you are comfortable with this sell the pictures on-line.

If you stay at home full time you could start a day care or baby sitting service.

Well thats if for now. I just had to post these ideas in case anyone wanted to try them out. Maybe one will work for you and maybe not. At the very least it should get your creative juices going.
